Slightly off topic but remember that peoplemovers are commonplace in most airports around the world. While not a monorail, they utilize the same basic concept (rubber tires on a guideway with a central power pickup). They're used in places that have intermittently high periods of traffic (as opposed to a continual stream, which does better with moving walkways) within a 3-4 mile space.
