yeah they do snap but just a regular cheap bottle cage should last for quite a long time even if you bend it quite often and work well enough. I'd just get another. I don't see why a king cage would have any advantage.
The $$ option would be a bikepacking cage, and hold it in with straps. That might be annoying though because of how wide it is so you might rub your legs on it. Salsa, topeak, etc make them. Metal and plastic ones. Or consider getting one of those narrow framebags and run it vertically on your seat tube and put your bottle in it. Again, might rub your legs.
