But pic rel, nice stem shifters, are ubiquitous, can be salvaged from scrapped bikes, and are 'worth' more like $5 each. quill stem diameter is the same as flat bar and one can simply be removed. They practically never wear out and the action on the nicer shimano and suntour ones is very nice when disassembled and serviced.
