Went to check out a Cannondale Supersix Evo HM yesterday I was interested in buying. The bike had been used as a professional race bike and took some damage during the races. Bike was dirty, poorly maintained and they didn't even prepare it for a testride. Tires were completely flat and after they pumped them up the rear tires was rubbing against the chainstays. Took 30 mins of them finding tires and fixing the thing before I could test it out. It rode fine after all had been adjusted but I thought it was weird and a little disrespectful to present me with a bike that condition.
I thought the price was reasonable and I was about to pull the trigger when I came across pic related. Owner said it's from wheel swaps during races. I ran my fingers across the damage and I am reasonably certain that there are light scratches in the carbon. I walked away because I'm not a carbon expert and I couldn't verify that the structural condition of the bike was solid.
Did I dodge a bullet or am I being too hash? How does this damage look to you?
