>>1938825Because most of the benefits help society at large, but most of the drawbacks impact the individual.
Benefits:
Less pollution
Less traffic
More city centre footfall
Accessible
Economic gains to connected cities
Cheaper
Drawbacks:
Unreliable
Single point of failure
Slower door to door
Weird connections
Luggage is a pain
Public setting, loonies, assholes etc.
Not personalized, if you like it colder or hotter than usual, too bad.
The only benefit to the individual is cost in most cases, sometimes a car would even be cheaper but they can't afford the capital cost of driving lessons so they get stuck on trains. In the UK since learning to drive I have been on a train precisely once, travelling to the shithole capital because its retarded airport charges too much for parking and I had no other choice.
Same reason video game companies don't optimise games any more, it costs them more to do so but the cost of getting a better PC to play their game goes onto the customer.
TLDR: Car OP.
