For this money you could get a solid road bike such as a new Specialized Allez, some clipless pedals, a head unit, a heartbeat sensor, some cheap shoes and a shitty helmet.
Is an expensive fixie with “good” components better than a bike with gears and shit? I somehow doubt it.. A bike with gears will always be faster. They look more expensive as well…my first bigboy bicycle is going to be a road bike..
