>>1775382I hope this is a troll but if not come on that will be a terrible idea. Aside from the fact that that would be fucking stupid, not every town in this country has a robust intra city or inter city public transport system. The town I live in currently for example has only a very small handful of public transport buses, and even then they ONLY travel near the beach area because that's where the tourists are. I live with the west back end of the town where there is literally no public transportation whatsoever. No Intercity train system exists in this entire city or even county or even the entire fucking state for that matter. Always in gas prices would do for a lot of people, the vast majority of people to be honest, which is forced them to revert back to the old ways of walking to the store on foot. The "just inconvenience the car drivers" crowd are beyond retarded and seen incapable of long-term thinking and putting themselves in someone else's shoes. News flash you are not getting a widespread public transport system in the US like you see in Japan or england. Our country just isn't built like that. It's not going to fucking happen so stop complaining about it. We are a car country with a car culture. End of story. You want robust public transportation? Move to a town, city, or state that has one. This argument has been going on for decades anyway get nothing has changed. Why do you think Elon musk's all electric autonomous car future has so much traction here? Because on a wide enough and coordinated enough scale, it theoretically could work (in some areas). That's not that feasible in somewhere like England or Japan (do people even have Teslas in japan?) Because they already have a robust public transportation system, so there isn't much demand for automobiles there.
