So there's a local manufacturer that's offering a chromoly touring bike for $500. It's equipped with Tiagra 3x and mech discs, but it weighs 15.5 kgs. The closest touring bike I can get new here with drop bar would be Marin Four Corners, but it's $175 more expensive here. Should I go for it? The store is even offering free lifetime service.
Alternatively I could go for Triban 500 SE (Microshift version) and slap mudguards and rear rack for the same price but realistically what's the load limit? Planning for commuter/ grocer run and weekend long distance rides. Also apparently it can't fit 28 mm tires which would be unfortunate because the roads are bad, too much construction projects and low quality asphalt against overloaded trucks.
