>>1032732Opted for the respirator today due to a 25 kph wind in addition to -20 °C temp. Keeps face warm, and glasses mostly free of fogging. One notable downside is the inability to drink, really need to get a straw. Added suspenders to my non-bib winter tights a few years back when I got tired of them catching on the saddle nose.
The UA Base 4.0 baselayer is super toasty. Legs were nice and warm. But upper body was too hot even with just 2 layers and my jacket left unzipped halfway most of the ride, should have wore my UA Base 2.0. Overheating was certainly due to the one factor I have the most difficulty planning for, exertion level. I always generate tons of heat riding the fat bike.
The huge volume of fat bike tires makes them dramatically affect by temperature swings. The 20 °C drop in temperature since the last time I used it made the tires far more squishy than I would have liked. But once I got going I didn't want to stop and screw around with a mini-pump.
