Tire selection is complicated though, because desirable characteristics like durability and comfyness are directly oppositional. Tires are also the part on a bike which typically wears out the fastest. So you can normally justify nice things because they'll last for a long time, but tires won't and broadly speaking expensive tires won't even help.
