They bought 93 PCCs from Mineappolis in 1954, and 183 from Detroit in 1955.
They ran for as long as there were trams in Mexico city. Starting in 1969 the system was closed and replaced by the subway. In 1976 the last urban line was closed, and only a suburban line remained, which connected to the subway. This line ran with PCCs until 1984. The PCCs were then destroyed in the 1985 earthquake when the depot collapsed. New LRT trains were built out of the remains of the PCCs and ran until the early 90s, when they were replaced by new LRT units. That line exists to this day as mexico city's only LRT line.
