The c19 would be closer in comparison, but the fact is those wings are actually giant ailerons since the rotor has no roll authority. They would be able to generate lift, but it wouldn´t be as optimal as a proper wing, with a cambered airfoil. The gain in modern designs is probably thanks to the much thinner NACA 8H12 section used in the rotor, which has a lot less drag.
But given a proper design, you could improve the lift efficiency a lot with a fixed wing since you can unload the rotor.
