if you don't have grade separation you have a major problem at level crossings
I live in a medium size city and we have 2-3 incidents a month, of cars or people trying to beat the train.
I don't really care about the Darwin award winners but it shuts the system down for hours
I am also told by motormen on our LRT that at grade systems cant be automated because of the level crossings. elevated or subways can be 100% automated
