>>1663760>Falcon 9 was successful largely because it was initially designed to be useful even as a fully expendable launch vehicle in the event that reuse didn't pan out, so being able to successfully and economically reuse the boosters is just gravy.I mean, they can still launch expendable Starships, and sometime they probably will. If SpaceX succeeds at mass production and its low cost, it wouldn't be a big deal to lose a Starship when a dozen is already in production. And that's what I think will happen. Once they launch few successful orbital flights they'll start putting Starlink satellites on it and in the meanwhile they'll be testing recovery.
