I have my own system for guessing the type and it goes by the angle of the upper half of the canter lever
low profile is around 35 degrees
medium profile is nearer to 45 degrees
wide profile is getting up around 70 to 90 degrees, one reason to avoid them is that they protrude from the bike so can be bent by crashes
