Wait, what's that, not a single human has been to the Moon for almost 50 years? SLS costs 2 billion dollars per flight, is completely expendable, hasn't even flown once yet? The Space Shuttle program has been retired?
If we are going to become an interplanetary species, then corporations will have to expand into space. And there is a lot of money to be made there. Mining, manufacturing, construction, research - the government alone can't make that happen, at least not on any sensible timescale or budget.
