in my experience, for the same budget level, you can get a high quality sedan rack. i feel is an easy task to mount on of these over the car trunk. instead of get a sedan rack, for the same budget you can get a hitch rack of lower quality than the other option. i said in bad way, rack will not damage the car hitch, but the section of rack immediately after the hitch socket. i saw bad practices at mounting those rack, and bad design practices on bluiders (thin material or low security factors, not perfect fit on hitch, few locking bolts). almost any job partners whose gone for hitch racks for bikes sent the racks to reinforce or redesign at the local welding man. due poor fixing of the hitch racks, bikes "dances" a lot after bumps when you see them in mirror due loosing at the hitch. also, those hitch racks at the same budget as sedan racks cant be loaded as sedan racks levels.
so, for the same budget you can go for more quality choosing sedan bike racks instead hitch racks.
