>>1679221The bike currently has cantilever brakes and I'm assuming by "pinch style brakes" you mean v-brakes like pic related. You could get v-brakes if you wanted, but be aware that they would require different brake levers as well because cantilever brakes use a short pull ratio and v-brakes use long pull.
