Looking good. Early XT is practically bomb proof, keep it clean and lubed in the right spots and it incredibly dependable.
For me these old steel frames have something about them, not just any old steel but when a bike has been made with mid -high grade tubing then the experience of riding them is really special.

I'll take the extra weight over the dead feeling of aluminum or plasticiness carbon. Can't compare with titanium as I've never ridden one.

Picrel is one I'm currently riding.

It's a fillet brazed Columbus tubed masterpiece with a top of the range groupset from the golden age, but you don't see me starting a new thread.
I'm pleased you are getting a bike you're happy with, but in all honestly this is probably not the place to proudly declare you consoomed a disposable bike for top money.
