>>1487020freewheel looks 6 speed
so the hub spacing mite be around 126 mm over lock nut distance
for 7 speed mtb and 10 speed road 130 mm is needed steel frames can be cold worked and bent wider
8 speed mtb cassettes can still use 7 mm thick chains but iirc 8 speed greater on road bikes use a thinner chain
chain width is a little bit of a clusterfuck
http://www.bikepro.com/products/chains/shimano.htmlI have seen that RD before but I cant remember what # it is
it mite be shimano Alivio RD-MC16 - I cant tell what year but yours has an alen bolt holding the cable so its late 1990s maybe 1998
http://www.disraeligears.co.uk/Site/Shimano_Spare_Parts_Catalogue_-_1994_to_2004_s5_p14.html6 to 8 speed MTB
Max sprocket 28T - ayee its GS 74 mm between pulley axle centers (check anyway they stamp the numbers and letters somewhere on the parts)
Min sprocket 11T - so its fine on with cassettes with tiny cogs
F/Difference if your largest chain ring is 48 tooth your smallest will be 18 less than that so like 30 or something
Total capacity 35T oh shidd - Determine Total Drive train Capacity by adding Maximum Chaining Difference to the Maximum Cassette Cog Difference
>Maximum Cassette Cog Difference28 - 11 = 17
+ F/Difference (18) = 35
so uhh yea
