Which doesn't mean they shouldn't exist, it just means that they have everything going against actually being promoted, unlike trams/LRT.
Afaik operation is about 5-10% more expensive on the whole than regular buses, this includes catenary maintenance (but not catenary construction).
Also is there any place in the world still using trolleybus trailers other than Lausanne? Lucerne retired theirs not long ago, and Lausanne's will be gone as soon as the new biarticulated trolleys enter service starting late this year.
