His fixie friends are all really deep into the gator meme. All their bikes have them, there are many lightly used spares lying around. I think their good shop friend got a whole pile of gators for nothing when a shop closed down.
Anyhows ridden heaps of road bikes. Cant remember any tires makes. But two weeks in and i love how damped and comfortable the gators are. Literallly the most comfy road bike and i can remember alot of jarring harsh rides. Having good flat protection gives confidence to go further. Only thing i can agree with is i could see how its a harder compound that could effect grip. They do seem a little sketch with heavy leaning into corners.
Also fun fact mine are 23 and 25mm ... i didnt know there were different sizes. does it make much difference ?
In conclusion: paying for them full price there may be other options, but if you can get em cheap they rock.
