I'm planning some weenie touring wheels (inb4 weight doesn't matter for touring)
Logic is that 32h wheels are tough and standard, so if I do kill a rim or hub I can find replacements in less developed cunts. Was going to triplet lace them and wrap the spoke crossovers in solder to reinforce.
>Front
- 32 Sapim CX-ray spokes
- Shimano XTR hub (QR, centrelock, Ebay steal)
- Kinlin XR-31RTS rim
- TPU aerothan tube (trying out one up front having read about their finicky patching requirements)
- Conti GP5K front
>rear
- Shimano Deore hub
- 32 DT Swiss Aerolite spokes
- Kinlin XR-31RTS rim
- Undecided supple butyl tube
- Conti GP4Seasons
- 2 layers of kapok rim tape 17mm
- ti skewer front and J&L thru axle rear
How's this looking? Hubs are heavy but should be bomber. Spokes are relatively light but numerous, triplet laced and reinforced. Bought them already as I'm pretty firmed on cup and cone after my previous tours
I'm 6'2" and pack light. What kind of abuse could I put this setup through?
