It's best used on a bike with a center mount for a kickstand, but if you have a steel frame, it can be mounted using a chainstay clamp. Not sure if the clamp will work with Al. If you use the clamp, take care to not overtorque because it's really easy to fuck up a frame that way. A bit of old tube in between the clamp and the frame will protect the frame a bit and make it easier to get it snug without tweaking the frame. A proper workstand would be better for your situation. Kickstands aren't really stable enough to be useful as workstands. It's ez to cobble together a DIY stand with cheap shit from Harbor Freight.
