>>1683054>where do I start for learning about city infrastructure and city planning in regards to transportation?Pop urbanism books aren't a bad place to start to get introduced to the concepts and ideas of planning and urbanism. They're only bad if you build your whole concept of urban planning around it. Jane Jacobs isn't bad either, though she's practically a meme at this point.
>I always hear citys and suburbs are designed like shit but how do I actually learn so I can understand why and why not? They're designed to be preferential to cars to the extent people who live there tend to be reliant on it.
Eco Gecko did a series called Suburban Wasteland about it. It's pretty good and pretty comprehensive. The channel has a pretty left wing perspective, but the Suburban Wasteland series isn't really hyper-political. If you tend to be more conservative, Strong Towns also provides a lot of good content regarding why suburbs suck from a more fiscal conservative position.
