I posted in the old thread, but here's a new picture of the bike I bought yesterday. It needs a good cleaning, but it otherwise is in perfect riding condition, as far as I can tell. My budget was $600 and I spent $120. The tires have some cracks and will need to be replaced eventually. The rear tire has a presta valve and the front is a schrader. That's kind of annoying, I dunno. I need to buy a bike repair kit and an air pump. Any suggestions? Should I replace the tires and valves before buying an air pump, or do they all come with both adapters these days?
Also, is it bad that I can't stand with my feet completely flat when standing over the bar? I don't have a problem un/mounting the bike, and it's comfortable to ride. I do worry about coming into contact with the brake cable on stops.
I just want to get back into biking and mostly plan to ride this on paved trails recreationally and use it as a way to learn how to replace the tires, take it apart, etc. I don't guess it's a good idea to put too much money in it. I'd really like to take it apart someday and give everything a good scrubbing. The metal looks very drab on this. One thing that really bugs me are the brake cables. Look at the extra cable hovering above the rear tire. It's bent upwards at 90 degrees and it triggers my OCD. lol
