I visited Minneapolis on business once. I can see why cycling there is good, but it seemed kinda meh because it was a flat grid. The only real challenge are the nasty winters.
Pittsburgh is the best city in the US for cycling. We got 4 seasons with fall, winter, pothole, and construction. Cycling infrastructure and the bike share program are getting good. While we don't have epic climbs on the alps we have some of the steepest streets in the world.
If you are not the type to climb snow covered flagstone streets with a 25% grade we have nice riverside trails with ample parking that run near plenty of stuff to do off the bike.
