I have a 12-speed and I was going along on the middle gear and I was getting pretty winded. For some reason I shifted up to the tallest gear (Is that how you say that? I mean the hardest one to peddle). I kept the same speed with slower pedaling and it let me catch my breath so I just kept going like that.
Is it actually easier? I thought I'd be expending the same amount of energy either way. Maybe it's just less of a cardio workout because I'm pedaling slower.
