The whole project was built under the premise of Montreal being the centre and most important city in Canada but the French language laws changed that and businesses moved away. Nobody wanted to bother to drive all the way out to Mirabel either because it's so far out. 97,000 acres were taken for this shit. They were supposed to build a train line to the airport but didn't bother with it either. Jets no longer needing refueling as often also led to a significant decline in customers.
