>>1816187I actually did a little bit of diving down the velomobile rabbit hole recently and it turns out that there are actually nice ones out there that make a lot of sense (podbike isn't one of them). There are a lot of things needed to be taken into consideration for a velomobile to not suck - for example things such as having adequate ventilation that is balanced with weather protection, balanced weight with total volume, and the drivetrain of course.
The best one I found was this Orca by a Dutch company called Flevo. It's all carbon fibre, features an electric assisted three wheel configuration with two wheels front and one wheel back (the only suitable setting for these things imo as electric assist is mandatory considering their size, having more than three wheels produces too much friction, and anything besides 2wheels front/1 back is not a stable configuration)
But yeah, pretty smart when you think about it. You have ultimate efficiency, along with comfort and protection of a personal enclosure, ability to easily haul luggage. I wouldn't be surprised if one day these things will start becoming more common.
