When did you do your first landing with your instructor off the controls? I'm at about 10 hours in the book, but have only done a few landings where my instructor and I rode the controls together. In my defense, we've had gnarly gusting crosswinds here pretty much every day I've flown. Today, he was confident in me, and I flew a perfect approach and felt really confident, until I got shaken by some REALLY rapid direction-changing gusts and handed off control to him. Should I be disappointed in myself that I haven't done a landing fully in my control yet? Am I not cut out for this?... He tells me I'm progressing really well. But I've seen people talk about landing on their *discovery*.
