Passengers from Austin will also have a similar trip time to both cities as in the T-bone plan. However this plan will still have a bottleneck leading to the inability to utilize the full capacity of the Dallas-Houston track and is thus less desirable than TCR's plan.
If you think routing via Temple would be enough to cater for passengers going from Houston to Austin/San Antonio and thus save the need of constructing that track then you probably should reconsider that a bit as that would be a 50% derail from direct route
