>>1249914Honestly those were my optimistic numbers. I have heard the 70 hours figure thrown around a lot though, so my 'optimistic realistic' goal is to try and beat 60 hours
Attend Ground School for 12 weeks: $500
Begin flying for real around the 8th week
Fly every Wednesday for 30 weeks: $3600
Glide every Saturday for 30 weeks: $1500
Instructor time: $500
Total: $6100, 38 weeks
I know planes and gliders will feel different, but I wanted to try out different planes during training anyway, so I don't get fixated on the feel of a particular Cessna or Piper. Also, I've heard from many that glider training does help you become a better airplane pilot
Now I haven't done it yet, but I have also heard some say there a lots of 'hidden fees' when you fly gliders, like some not including the towing time or gas prices in the price of the glider rental. I'll have to feel that out to see if it really ends up worth it, or if I need to just go all in on airplane time
But my secret hope is to make friends with someone with a light sport airplane so I can joyride and build hours on the mega cheap
