There are plenty of parasites making a killing on cagie culture vested into keeping it going, but that only works if there is still some competition between corporations for their wagies. However I do believe the end goal would be the kind of corporate Paradise we had behind the iron curtain, where the entire government forms a mega corporate cartel. Since they own all the corporations and all the wagies it makes the most sense to transport them how OP described.
