>>1511931Well, I took the plunge and invested into some higher quality hammocking gear. I made a half-assed attempt at hammock sleeping at the beginning of my adventure but it was some shitty cheap hammock that was too short for me, plus I wasn't accustomed to sleeping outdoors and hadn't adjusted my expectations yet.
Did a couple of overnighters with it and I gotta say I like it this time around. The longer, wider hammock makes a lot of difference in comfort compared to the previous one. I'd say it's about even with sleeping on the ground in ideal conditions, maybe slightly worse, but my real world experience has shown me that I won't have ideal conditions most of the time.
This setup is consistent, as long as you have 2 points to hang it on, it will give the same comfort every time. You just gotta come to terms with the fact that you won't be able to assume the positions you normally take in your bed, but to make up for it other positions become available that can't really be done on a flat bed. I normally toss and turn a lot when I sleep but last night I went out like a candle before 11 PM and slept way past 8 without waking up once.
Also, this might look comfy and serene, but the bugs were fucking killing me, especially in the evening. I'm still itching all over.
