In my field of work (architecture) the concept of walkable cities is as old as time, so I was used to discussing it. Then suddenly I started seeing discussion of it online and got curious. I thought, oh wow, are people actually showing interest in this form of urban development?
I clicked on some Twitter topics and shit and was immediately bombarded with schizophrenic right wing conspiracy theory nonsense about how it's communist and evil. Like, what? How is being able to walk out of your house and stroll to the store on foot for something as simple as milk or a 6 pack of beer communist? It's insane, until you remember just how utterly stupid the average American is.
