>>1456614>Most progressives are not supporting a Soviet or Chinese style centrally planned, authoritarian government. But it always devolves into that no matter how good people's intentions are. Look at how the EU, supposedly progressive, is literally turning into China and creating a pseudo social credit system through platforming (online hate speech, banks and power cutoff for naughty bois) and in less than 2 years you will need a VPN and some kind of hack to bypass their article 13 upload filter they are implementing! That is essentially "late stage socialism." A reversion to an authoritarian mean that benefits the few with the support of the useful idiot NPC masses.
It is human nature to use power and bureaucracy for your own benefit. And it's also human nature for leaders at the national level to be ultra paranoid of the masses and to implement either discrete or overt police state measures to protect themselves. And despite what you might think many of the ultra elite networks have remained in power through decades or even centuries and any semblance of a democratic election is usually being manipulated by a dark hand to get one of these networked individuals, often compromised by pedophilia, into a power position.
Because the EU is considered progressive, lets look at the Belgium politician pedophile scandal, that was memory holed in the 90s, but did see some cultural references in movies like "in bruge."
Here is an interview with one of the victims, who started a charity to help victims like her, and she talks about recognizing politicians as they abused her in Belgium:

She talks about the ways her PTSD affects her life but also about the empathy she learned at a young age that inspires her to teach fellow survivors of sex-trafficking.
