There are cheaper options out there, these were $6-7 when I picked them up but have been in use for years and don't show any signs of wear. Way faster than rolling up your pant legs and in my opinion, better. Would rolling your socks over your pants stretch them out after some time? I'm not sure how much tall socks like that cost.
