>>1330675>safe under 45km/hI’m an oldfag, and people tend to become more cautious with age. I might still have the balls to take that thing to 45k under ideal track conditions, but day-in day-out commuting would absolutely exceed my risk threshold. I do other risky stuff like deep / cold scuba diving, antique motorcycles (at 200k), and skydiving, but I know my personal limits. The margin just isn’t there.
>high mass doesn’t matter with a motorThe motor helps with the “go”, that’s what it’s for. I think you will find it helps less with the “stop”, and that high mass absolutely matters a whole bunch there.
>volatile fuelOkay: fair enough. It looks like a small well constructed tank, not all that dangerous.
>don't touch cooling finsBe sure and remind your stupid self of that point as you are in the process of crashing. It all happens faster than you think.
>steel is probably safeSafeR, I suppose, safer than an Al equivalent. More worried about bearings, forks, spokes, tires, etc. Every single tiny penny of value has been squeezed out of this thing with unrelenting attention to detail. It’s really quite awe-inspiring how they are able to do it so cheap, even with asian labor. Every little bit of it is only JUST able to do the minimum necessity, or a bit less. Then you strap a heavy engine kit on and do 20 miles a day every day on bumpy roads at high speed. Can this not end in tears?
>suspension has no affect on motorcycle handling or safety That is wrong.
>road-going vehicles don’t need lightsWe might have to disagree on this one, but I have a more ‘german’ perspective.
>the brakes are the only concern, other than that it’s peachy It’s a lucky thing the insurance industry doesn’t need to agree with you, but what do they know?
