>>1102980I'd definitely agree with that. The Old F-7 and F-8 had 1300 hp prime movers. The Norfolk Southern Fs were retrofitted with 2000 hp for the Bs and 1800 hp for the A units. I'm imagining an F-8 with a pair of 2000 hp prime movers in place.

The length allowed them to have two engine/generator power plants. I'm in my late forties and my first electric train set was a four HO unit set with a Santa Fe F-7 and three freight cars. every model train manufacturer had a basic starter set with a red nosed Santa Fe F series locomotive.
