The avid branding was likely dropped so sram could sell an entire group set (brakes, rear mech, cranks and chain ring, cassettee, etc) that was sram branded.
...do you know how to service your brakes properly? It sounds like you cannot bleed them properly and/or are running old pads. A brake bleed isnt going to massively improve the feel while you are running old pads. I swear to god a majority of riders do not know how to do the most basic service on their bikes.
