range isn't the practical issue people think it is, because you can charge at home overnight and drive the kind of distance that a normal person would drive in a day no problem. need to go 300 miles without stopping? take a train.
better for the environment? potentially, but it depends where the energy comes from. renewables, storage, and a sensible amount of nuclear gets you to zero emissions.
