Treated the inside of this 1991 Miyata 914 today, with evaporust.
Normally wouldn't bother, but this frame has two cutouts in the top tube for internal cable routing. Cool idea.... I guess. Really it's the worst spot to let water in. Overall quite good shape for 30 years old, but there's more rust than I want in the tt and bb shell. And if I'm doing one, I'm doing the other.
Top pic is the tt filled & blocked off. Wanted to be able to rotate it, since there was some rust right up to the edge of those cutouts. Bottom pic is the "don't dump it all on the floor" bb setup. Hdpe sheet, dense foam, plywood scrap, clamp. Worked well, but the foam permanently deforms after being clamped so long, and I'd omit the plastic sheet next time. Pricked the under-bb cable guide hole to drain the evaporust.
