>>1544128>Most of my rides have a top speed somewhere above 50 km/h. And that's on rolling terrain without any big hills. I don't usually ever use my small chainring when I'm riding around my home so the rollers aren't steep. It's not complete spinout territory but it's above my preferred cadence category on a 50x11.So is mine. 46/12 top gear. I am just realistic about it - I spend less then 1% of my ride time above 40+ km/h and If I do, its gravity assisted.
>>1544128>I'm not sure if you're aware but the earth isn't flat. You want tightly spaced gearing for climbing too. Having a couple bailout gears for the steepest hills can be a good idea but otherwise tighter spacing is better on the road. There is tight spacing, and there is excessively tight spacing. If one's gears differ by 1km/h at an optimal cadence, they are going to double-triple shift.
>>1544128>But the simplification often doesn't make it a better product from technical perspective.Engineering is an art of tradeoffs. If making a product simpler makes it sell better - it _is_ a better product by at least that metric.
