>>1564825I'll keep my eye out for sales, my budget is around 1.5k so that's good.
>>1564830Yeah saw that but it seems the manufacturer has replaced the part in question to a metal one so it shouldn't break now. It's $250 anyways, could get name brand shifters for not much more.
>>1564868>last year used bike is always a better dealI haven't been able to find such bikes in my area, probably because of the pandemic. Next year will be a good year to buy barely used bikes from people who bought one now.
>chinese parts are a big gambleThat's fair, however I've seen many people who bought them and have had little trouble with them. It seems that the problem is with 'replica' frames, those are garbage. Also there are reputable chinese manufacturers that pricewise sit in between the unbranded stuff and traditional brands, but excellent in terms of quality (UCI cert and quality control).
>>1564965It's not like I would trust a china frame like I would a cervelo or cannondale, but I'm willing to take my chances given that road bikes don't get exposed to sudden stresses like mtbs do, and that I'm not a heavy rider and/or able to output a ton of power
