Some leftists might say that billionaires like Elon Musk don't need their money and that they should have to pay 99 percent taxes so all their money gets distributed to the poor, which is similar to what was done in the 1960s. The problem is that then there is hardly any incentive to start your own companies and innovate by yourself, but I think the worst part is that governments are soooo bad at innovation and creativity. Elon is about to btfo NASA eternally for a small fraction of the budget and establish humans elsewhere in the solar system which hedges against problems here.
And this kind of private vs public innovation is in medicine as well and the longevity institute is working with about 7 billion a year privately to defeat age related disease which is more important for human wellbeing than anything else. And welfare just promotes learned helplessness and humans have more of an urge to recreate when they are dirt poor and this is why food aid created a huge boom in the population in africa which created and even more unstable and unsustainable problem, although male birth control would help that anyway.. It's teach a man to fish kind of thing which governments never do because they benefit when people are dependent on them!
Russia and China are also just examples of how bad government and socialistic policies are. They are always hijacked by some group for their own interests. I was referring to the communist collectivist theory though mostly although many deluded leftists will argue that mao and stalin brought these feudalistic (they always say feudalistic) countries into the industrial age because they were able to efficiently plan their economies. Even that "welcome to the zeitgeist" movie guy says shit like that. They also hyper focus on the nazi holocaust but then give passes to stalin and mao's purges.
