I know OP is a joke but I unironically think some cities could benefit from something similar. Take for instance New Haven, Connecticut.
>current airport
>one 1-mile long runway in the middle of a residential neighborhood with no access other than residential streets
>new airport
>two 1.85-mile long runways for massive expansion of passenger service
>right downtown
>attached to new haven union station putting you an hour's train ride from almost anywhere in connecticut and even making it a good alternate airport for places like new york, springfield, and even providence and the southern massachusetts suburbs
>land is useless anyways thanks to being mashed in between a rail yard and a highway
It could easily turn into a major regional airport making it well worth taking out a mere eight city blocks.
