I'm a total casual when it comes to bikes so please bear with me. I had to take my bike apart to ship it cross country (front wheel, handlebar, seat, pedals). After reassembling it, there are two problems.
The first is that something seems messed up with the front brake now -- I can apply the brake but it doesn't fully release when I let go of the lever, and I have to push the lever forward myself. I've tried adjusting the tension but nothing seems to fix the release.
The second problem is that the bike makes a sort of ratcheting noise I've never heard before when I pedal hard in a high gear. It sounds like it's coming from the gear near the pedals, but I'm not quite sure.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I should check? I
