I know that presta valves are good for higher psi tubes to stop them from leaking air which is apparently a problem with schrader valves. But at what point does this become a real problem?
My old bike ran on scharders at 60 psi and were fine, I always check before every ride and top them off every time, but my new valves have a very wide capacity from 45 to freaking 90. I've used prestas before and the presta-to-schrader adapters would lose that little rubber gasket every other use. Cheap, but that $1.50 per 2 adapters adds up over months and years.
I've read that it isn't good to leave shcader adapters on presta heads because they leak. How fast? Could I leave them on their for around town sub-three or four hour rides as long as I topped them off and only took the adapters off for one-day+ rides? Or will the adapters lose fifteen pounds in one hour of ride?
