>>1670174That's the plan right now - full service on TCR will start in 2024 while CAHSR plots a minimum end date of 2033 for its project.
>>1670209I think you misunderstand the point of high speed rail. There's connectivity between this and Dallas DART/Houston Metro light rail transit (i.e. HSR station is like right across the road from light rail) - both of which run wayyyy under capacity. They're adding a new line through the northern suburbs too that'll be done in 2024, so you could theoretically go all the way from landing at DFW airport to arriving at Houston within a day without ever needing to get a car.
>>1670327College Station probably had people scalping their land's prices since it's already close to Texas A&M. This current stop would just be a county over, 30 mins east of College Station. Also seems like this is meant to be a future connecting station between the Dallas-Houston and Austin-San Antonio routes, so probably easiest to build in a cheaper rural area than a slightly urbanized area where you have to push through stuff.
If Texas gets thorough train and light rail access in its major cities before any other state I'm gonna be laughing so hard.
